The customer’s challenge
Hospitals working with Mitie relied on outdated cleaning equipment and disposable tools, leading to high costs and inefficiencies. With £1.8 million spent annually on cleaning supplies, they needed a more effective, cost-efficient, and hygienic solution to improve operational standards and safety.
i-team’s contribution
ITE-UK conducted tests with the imop Lite and i-mop XL across multiple hospitals to assess their efficiency compared to traditional cleaning methods. The evaluation focused on:
- Slip resistance improvement, measured using the Slip Alert system.
- Cleaning standard enhancement, tested with the Hygiena ATP tester.
Productivity improvement versus current cleaning method by time trials.
- End-user experience, gathered via direct feedback.
Result
- Improved safety: Slip tests showed a normalized risk reduction to 118 when floors became wet, lowering risks for staff and patients.
- Hygiene: ATP tests across restaurant areas all passed, with an average bacterial RLU reading of 0-2, well within the safety range of 31-80—notably achieved using only water.
- Higher efficiency: Labour required for cleaning was reduced by 48-55% on average.
- Cost savings: Each i-mop generated annual savings of £13,000 to £17,000, achieving ROI in less than 5 months.
